Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic – Contest
Please read these Rules in their entirety before entering the Contest. Please do not enter the Contest unless you agree to these Rules. Participation in the Contest constitutes full and unconditional agreement and acceptance of these Rules which are final on all matters relating to the Contest.
- To Enter: Enter in one of the following ways:
Locate your Personal Identification Number (PIN) on the front of each ticket purchased for the 2009 Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic from Gretzky.com. Once you have your PIN, visit the www.gretzky.com web site between May 1, 2009 and June 15, 2009 (“Contest Period”), click on “Enter PIN” and complete all mandatory contest fields on the online contest entry form, including name, address, and e-mail address, and submit the entry by clicking “Submit”;

For no purchase necessary entry write an original 500 word essay explaining why it is important for underprivileged children to be able to participate in sporting events / hockey. Send your essay to: <Ford WG Classic, c/o Gretzky.com, 184 Pearl Street - Suite 302, Toronto, Ontario, M5H 1L5> to receive a free PIN number. All essay PIN requests must be postmarked by June 1, 2009 and received by June 7, 2009. Limit of one essay PIN request per original, unique essay per envelope with sufficient postage. Available in all provinces except Quebec. All requests must include a postage-paid, self addressed envelope.
- Contest Eligibility and Close Date: The contest is open to residents of all Provinces in Canada excluding Quebec. Also excluded are all employees (current and retired) of Gretzky.com (Insight Sports Ltd.) and the Wayne Gretzky Foundation and their advertising and promotional agencies, contest judging organization, prize suppliers, dealers and their parent, subsidiaries and affiliates, representatives, and agents (“Contest Sponsors”) and those with whom they are domiciled. To be eligible, electronic entries must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. EST on June 15, 2009, the contest close date. Multiple entries per person will be accepted per unique PIN during the contest regardless of the mode of entry (web, mail, etc.). Only one Daily Prize (described below) will be awarded per person.
In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an online entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address in question. Authorized account holder is the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an internet service provider or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the e-mail address in question. Potential winners may be required to show proof of being the authorized account holder.
- Prize: There will be one (1) grand prize; and forty-six (46) daily prizes awarded in Canada.
Grand Prize: One (1) grand prize will be awarded consisting of two (2) weekly passes to the Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic in Collingwood, Ontario from July 6, 2009 - July 12, 2009 and the opportunity to meet Wayne Gretzky. Approximate Retail Value of the two weekly passes: $80) (the “Grand Prize”). The grand prize does not include any form of transportation services or accommodations for the winner. All incidental costs and expenses not specifically referred to shall be the responsibility of the winner.
If the winner has not reached the age of majority in his/her province of residence, he/she must be accompanied by his or her parent or legal guardian who has reached the age of majority in his/her province of residence.
Daily Prizes: There are forty-six (46) daily place prizes to be awarded each consisting of one (1) Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic baseball hat. Approximate Retail Value of each daily prize: $20.00 (the “Daily Prize”).
Prizes may not be exactly as shown in contest publicity or promotional materials.
- Random Draw: One (1) eligible Daily Prize winner will be selected by random draw from all the eligible entries received on each day between May 1, 2009 and June 15, 2009. Each Daily Prize drawing will occur daily on the following business day at 12:00 p.m. EST between May 4, 2009 and June 16, 2009 (e.g., the draw for Monday May 4, 2009 will take place on Tuesday May 5, 2009). Chances of winning a Daily Prize is solely dependent on the total number of eligible entries received prior to each draw date.
One (1) eligible Grand Prize winner will be selected by random draw from all eligible entries received throughout the Contest Period. The Grand Prize drawing will be held at 12:00 p.m. EST on June 16th, 2009 by a representative of Gretzky.com. Chances of winning the Grand Prize is solely dependent on the total number of eligible entries received by the contest close date.
All Prize drawings will be made by a representative of Gretzky.com and will be held at the Gretzky.com office located in Toronto Ontario.
The eligible winner(s) will be contacted by mail or e-mail within 48 hours of the draw. If a selected entrant cannot be contacted within 14 days of the draw, or does not meet all of the contest conditions, another entry may be selected from all remaining eligible entries.
- Prize Substitution: Prizes are non-exchangeable, non-transferable, nonrefundable, have no cash surrender value and must be accepted as awarded with no substitutions. The Contest Sponsors reserve the rights, at their sole discretion, to substitute the prize(s) awarded with (a) prize(s) of equivalent or greater value for any reason whatsoever.
- General Conditions: To win, the selected entrant must first have complied with the rules and correctly answered, unaided, a time-limited skill testing question to be administered by e-mail or telephone by the Contest Sponsors at a prearranged mutually convenient time. Successful entrants will be instructed how to claim their prize. Prizes will be distributed between July 6, 2009 and July 12, 2009 on site at the Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic in Collingwood, Ontario. It is the responsibility of each winner to pick up their prize at the Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic site. After July 12, 2009 any unclaimed prizes will not be mailed out.
The selected entrant, or his/her parent(s) or legal guardian(s) if under the age of majority, will be required to sign a standard release form confirming compliance with and agreement to be bound by the contest rules, release of the Contest Sponsors, their directors, officers, dealers, partners and employees from any and all liability, and acceptance of the prize as awarded within ten days after receipt. The decision of the Contest Sponsors is final. Entries are subject to verification. The Contest Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify a person if he/she enters this contest or tries to do so by any means contrary to these Rules or which would be unfair to other entrants or where contest entries are generated by any mechanical or automated means. Entry materials that have been tampered with, reproduced, falsified or altered are void. In the event that a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, the prize may be awarded to an alternate winner by random draw from among all remaining eligible contest entries. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this contest is a violation of laws and may be subject to remedies and damages, including criminal prosecution. This contest is subject to all Federal, Provincial and Municipal laws. Void where prohibited.
- Publicity: By entering the contest, each entrant or his/her parent(s)/legal guardian(s) if under the age of majority agrees to be bound by these rules and the decision of the Contest Sponsors, and consents to the use of their name, city of residence, likeness, photograph, image and voice without payment or compensation, in any publicity or advertising in any medium carried out by the Contest Sponsors.
- Modification or Termination: Subject to applicable law, the Contest Sponsors reserve the right to cancel, terminate, modify the rules or administration of or suspend this contest in whole or in part without prior notice with no obligation or liability, including if for any reason the contest is not capable of running as planned, whether due to technical failure, or computer virus, tampering, fraud, or corruption of security or proper administration of the contest or other causes beyond the control of the Contest Sponsors. In such event, a winner may be selected by randomly drawing from among all valid entries received up to the time of cancellation, termination or suspension. The right is reserved to modify, terminate or withdraw this contest at any time without prior notice.
- Liability: The Contest Sponsors, and Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited, Young & Rubicam, Samsung Canada, and Scotiabank (together, the “Tournament Sponsors”), and their directors, officers, partners, dealers and employees shall not be responsible for any injuries, loss or damages of any kind (compensatory, direct, incidental, consequential or otherwise) with respect to, or in any way arising from, this contest or the prize awarded, including but not limited to: (i) lost, stolen, not received, destroyed, damaged, misdirected, illegible, incomplete, fraudulent or late entries which will be void and not eligible; (ii) failure to receive entries for any reason or technical failures or errors of any kind, including but not limited to incorrect or inaccurate capture or loss of entry information, omissions, lost/delayed/garbled data, transmission failure, interruption, deletion, defect or failures of any telephone or computer line or network, computer equipment, servers, or software, traffic congestion on the internet or any website or any other online communication problems or any combination thereof; (iii) seeding or printing or typographical errors in any contest related material or human error; or (iv) any injury or damage to participants' or any other persons' computer system(s) due to viruses or otherwise or breaches of privacy due to interference by third party computers. A prize winner's refusal or inability to accept the prize awarded shall release the Contest Sponsors and Tournament Sponsors from all obligation. In no event shall the Contest Sponsors and Tournament Sponsors be held to award more prizes than what is mentioned in these Rules or to award prizes otherwise than in compliance with these Rules.
