FRIENDLY REMINDERS

Breakfast / lunch are provided for working volunteers only.
Volunteers are encouraged to eat after their shift if they are working a morning shift and before their shift if they are working a PM shift. No alcoholic beverages are to be consumed by volunteers on duty

UNIFORM: Please wear the volunteer shirt and name badge. The hat is optional but encouraged for protection from the sun. Please wear dark colored shorts, capris or pants and comfortable walking shoes. Prepare for inclement weather if need be.

READY FOR DUTY: All volunteers should have been notified by their particular chairperson regarding shift times and reporting locations for their particular committees. If you are unclear of your shift, please clarify with your chairperson. Event day is always crazy and it’s best to be precise.

ON-COURSE SHUTTLES: There will be cart shuttles assigned to specific holes on the course that will transport volunteers out to their assignment. Most volunteers are encouraged to allow enough time to walk to their designated assignment.

VOLUNTEER SERVICES: Georgian Bay Club – Marianne Hogg, Chair, Lora Bay Club – Patti McFarlane, Chair

EVACUATION PLANS: Each chairperson will be briefed regarding the tournament evacuation plan. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the evacuation plan once onsite. Make sure you know where to go in the event that the horn is sounded for inclement weather.

MORE VOLUNTEERS: We still have a need for volunteers in the area of Marshalling at The Georgian Bay Club. Come as a group, bring a friend and encourage others

VOLUNTEER PARTY: The Volunteer Party will be hosted at the Georgian Bay Club, following play on Sunday July 12th. The volunteer party is for volunteers only, please wear your volunteer shirt. Please arrive early to watch the exciting end to the tournament and the trophy presentation. Tournament play is expected to be completed by 4pm.

UNIFORMS: Shirt Distribution will take place at the Pretty River Academy on Hwy 26 in Collingwood. Distribution will take place as follows:
Tuesday, June 30th – noon to 6 p.m.
Friday, July 3rd – 3pm to 7 p.m.
If you are unable to pick up your shirts on the above dates, please pick up your shirt on the day of your shift at volunteer services.

WHAT ABOUT AUTOGRAPHS? No memorabilia will be allowed on course carried in large bags or back packs larger than 8×8x8. Spectators are limited to bringing in no more than two pieces of memorabilia on site. Please report any abuses by spectators or other volunteers to your volunteer chairperson. We do allow our volunteers to ask for autographs but ask each volunteer to use discretion as to the time and place of the request. Please be a VOLUNTEER FIRST!

I CAN’T MAKE MY SHIFT? Please alert your volunteer chairperson as soon as possible if you are unable to make your shift.

WEEKEND VOLUNTEER SHIFTS: If you are not volunteering on the weekend, but would like to, please let us know and sign up “Volunteer Board at Volunteer Services” and we will call you if we require more volunteers on the weekend.

We Love Our Volunteers So…. Please take care on and off the course. We suggest keeping yourself protected with proper sunscreen and the hat provided. Bringing bug spray is always a good idea for the early morning and dusk hours. It is also very important to stay hydrated. The tournament has implemented a product distribution system to keep coolers stocked in the volunteer tent during the day and also help distribute food/beverage to the volunteers on assignments on course. Please be advised of your schedule and take water with you before departing for your shift. Remember that those volunteers stationed on course as a marshal or traveling with a group (walking scorer, standard bearer) may water from coolers provided on the particular holes on course under the discretion of the hole captain. If you experience any signs of heat exhaustion or other health-related problems, please notify a hole captain or seek medical attention at the First Aid Area.

As a friendly reminder, please be prepared for inclement weather and please plan/dress accordingly!
